The major cause of dental decay is poor nutrition and more specifically it is the over abundance of sugar in your diet. This sugar can come in the form of cookies, crackers, cakes, ice-cream, breads, milk, sodas, juice, sports drinks, chips – ok let's make it easier. Most people believe that if they brush and floss their teeth that they won't get cavities because they are removing the plaque from their teeth on a regular basis, but when their dentist tells them they have a cavity they reply with "I brush and floss everyday"! If you feed someone through a tube in their stomach they could still get cavities. So let's talk about both of these theories.
The first theory works from the outside in. Sugar in the mouth increases plaque on the teeth which allows the bacteria to convert sugar to acid and dissolve the tooth causing a cavity. The second theory involves the ingestion of sugar and works from the inside out. As we increase the amount of sugar the cells of the body produce more energy (The sugar high). When the cell is producing more energy it is using phosphorous in the ATP cellular energy cycle. At some point you will run low on phosphorous and your body will lower the ph (raise the acid level) of the saliva which will break up the calcium crystals (which contain phosphorus) of the teeth and release the phosphorous from the teeth resulting in a cavity.
Brush your teeth twice a day, floss once a day. Then decrease the amount of sugar in your diet (the average American consumes about 160 pounds per year) WOW!!! Eat a diet high in fresh veggies, fresh meats and some fruit. You will also need to supplement your diet with whole food vitamins and minerals. Use sweeteners that will reduce the plaque build up – such as xylitol, erythritol, and stevia.
Apply this delicious, all-natural gel to the gums and teeth of infants and toddlers. Children love xylitol's naturally sweet flavor. Spry Infant Tooth Gel is designed specifically for toddlers and children who struggle with brushing. The sooner children begin using xylitol products such as Spry Infant Tooth Gel, the more protection they will have against tooth decay.
